At the meeting, Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan emphasized that Vietnam values the strengthening and development of its strategic comprehensive partnership with China. He highlighted the strategic importance of the Vietnam-China community with a shared future which encompasses six key cooperation areas, with defense cooperation being a critical pillar. He noted that defense collaboration has been advancing both in breadth and depth, reflecting the shared commitment of both nations.
Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan praised the progress in defense cooperation under the common consensus of the two countries' senior leaders, emphasizing its effectiveness and quality, particularly in high-level delegation exchanges. He expressed appreciation for the ongoing joint research collaboration between the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy and the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences, calling it one of the priorities in bilateral defense cooperation. He added that this cooperation holds great significance in fostering mutual understanding and educating younger generations about the tradition of solidarity and friendship, encapsulated in the spirit of being “comrades and brothers,” between the two countries and two militaries.
On this occasion, Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan proposed the two sides promote the achievements made, fulfill their shared responsibilities, and complete their joint research projects promptly to contribute meaningfully to the Year of Vietnam-China Humanistic Exchange in 2025 and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - 2025).
In response, Maj. Gen. Huang Wen Tao expressed thanks to Sr. Lt. Gen. Phung Si Tan for the reception and briefed him on the results of prior discussions with the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy. He noted the positive outcomes achieved in implementing the joint research projects and reiterated the determination of both sides to complete the projects soon.
Earlier the same day, a delegation from the Vietnam Institute of Defense Strategy, led by its Director Lieutenant General Vu Cuong Quyet, had a working session with the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences delegation.
During the session, both sides reviewed the progress of their cooperative tasks and agreed on the key contents and final deliverables of their joint research projects, which include a report, a collection of images, and documents. Once the draft is finalized, the results will be presented to the Ministries of National Defense of both countries for approval and guidance.
