Speaking on behalf of the department, VNDPKO’s Director Major General Pham Manh Thang pledged steadfast political will, solidarity, and determination to overcome all challenges in order to fulfill every mission entrusted by the Party, the State, and the military. He affirmed the commitment to spreading the noble qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” in today’s era through practical actions.

Participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations is a major policy of the Party and State, demonstrating Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development, multilateralization and diversification of relations. This important component of defense diplomacy requires both political-diplomatic efforts and military capabilities, contributing to enhancing the country’s prestige and spreading the noble image of Uncle Ho’s Soldiers to international friends.

Since its establishment more than 11 years ago, Vietnam’s peacekeeping forces have grown steadily. From the first two liaison officers deployed in 2014, the Ministry of National Defense has now sent over 1,100 personnel, including six Level-2 Field Hospitals, three Engineering Companies, and more than 140 individual officers. These forces have been praised by the U.N., host countries, and the international community for their professionalism, discipline, solidarity, and adaptability in multinational environments.

Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospitals have proven highly effective in providing medical support for U.N. staff, while the country’s engineering units, particularly those serving at UNISFA, have left a strong mark by improving mission infrastructure and gaining the trust of local communities.
