The Vietnamese deputy defense minister emphasized that both Vietnam and Thailand are ASEAN member states and are enjoying thriving friendship. He also stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives priority to developing its ties with Thailand and is willing to enhance their strategic partnership in all spheres, including defense cooperation.

The Vietnamese general highly appreciated the outcomes of the bilateral defense ties over the past time, particularly the maintenance of delegation exchanges and high-level contacts, establishment and effective upholding of joint working groups, consultation between services and arms and deputy-defense-minister-level defense policy dialogue.

General Chien highlighted the increased coordination and exchanges between the two navies and air forces, further cooperation in training, mutual support at multilateral forums, especially within the framework of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), ADMM Plus, and the ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces’ Meeting (ACDFM).

Given that 2023 marks 10 years of the Vietnam - Thailand strategic partnership, General Chien suggested the Thai attachés continue to work closely with the Vietnamese side and effectively carry out agreed cooperation contents with a focus on all-level delegation exchange, especially high-ranking one, successful organization of the fourth Vietnam - Thailand defense policy dialogue, bringing into play efficiency of existing cooperation mechanisms, enhancement of cooperation, exchange, and experience sharing between services and arms, and collaboration in personnel training.

The host affirmed that the Vietnamese MND’s leaders always support and create conditions for both sides to intensify the bilateral defense relations.

On behalf of the guests, Colonel Anupon Naksut expressed his good feelings about Vietnam and its people. He thanked the Vietnamese MND for creating conditions for Thai attachés to complete their duties.

Believing in a successful tenure in Vietnam, Colonel Anupon Naksut underlined that defense cooperation continues to be one of the vital pillars with contribution to promoting the two countries’ strategic partnership.

He said that Thailand will continuously strengthen its defense ties with Vietnam to be on par with the strategic partnership of the two countries and the country will send a delegation to attend the Vietnam International Defense Expo 2022 hosted by the Vietnamese MND in Hanoi this December.
