Deputy Defense Minister meets new ambassadors, consuls-general
PANO - Deputy Defense Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh had a meeting with new ambassadors and consuls-general of the 2018-2021 term on July 30 at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense (MND).
On behalf of the MND’s leaders, General Vinh congratulated the senior diplomats on their new posts entrusted by the Party and the State, and gave them an overview of the defense external situation so that they could further understand and support the service.
General Vinh underscored that with close coordination between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and National Defense, including the support, enthusiasm and responsibility of the staff of Vietnamese embassies and general consulates in foreign countries over the past time, the defense external service has been implemented as planned and reaped practical outcomes.

The Deputy Defense Minister also emphasized that in the coming time, Vietnam will expand its defense cooperation with other countries in a practical, intensive, stable and sustainable manner with priority given to neighboring countries, ASEAN member countries, traditional friends and major countries.
Vietnam will also continue expanding its relationship, establishing cooperation mechanisms with new potential partners, in line with the country’s fundamental and long-term interests in politics, defense and security, General Vinh added.
He hoped that the new ambassadors and consuls-general will cooperate closely with Vietnamese defense attaches in the target countries to carry out the service effectively, contributing to the Party’s and State’s achievements in external affairs.
On behalf of the diplomats, Deputy Foreign Minister Vu Hong Nam accredited to Japan and the Republic of the Marshall Islands affirmed that they would continue coordinate with the Ministry of National Defense to promote the defense external service in the time to come.
