During the meeting, Vietnamese Defense Minister congratulated Tshering W. Sherpa on his appointment as Ambassador of India to Vietnam and affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

He emphasized that in recent years, alongside the deep and broad development of bilateral relations, Vietnam - India defense cooperation has received strong attention from both sides, continuously expanding and deepening in an increasingly effective and practical manner. Cooperation has been particularly notable in such areas as exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level visits; the effective maintenance of cooperation mechanisms, particularly the Deputy Minister-level Defense Policy Dialogue and naval–army–air force consultations; naval training cooperation; United Nations peacekeeping operations; and exchanges among strategic research agencies.
General Giang proposed that in the coming period, both sides continue to implement the agreed defense cooperation contents, with a focus on exchanges of delegations at all levels and the effective maintenance of cooperation mechanisms, as well as cooperation in training and the defense industry.
He expressed his confidence that during his term of office, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa will successfully fulfill his responsibilities and contribute to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in general, and defense cooperation in particular, for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The defense leader affirmed that the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam will always create favorable conditions for Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa to successfully accomplish his mission.
For his part, Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of India. According to Ambassador Tshering W. Sherpa, defense cooperation is a pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Vietnam.
The Indian diplomat emphasized that in recent years India and Vietnam have strengthened bilateral defense cooperation and achieved many important results, He expressed his hope that the two sides will continue to promote the agreed areas of cooperation in the coming time.
