Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien hosts Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army General Narongpan Jittkaewtae.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien warmly welcomed General Narongpan Jittkaewtae to Vietnam and hoped that the Royal Thai Army will continue to develop strongly under the direction of the Thai senior defense leader, making positive contribution to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region in general and the relationship between the two countries and two militaries in particular.

General Chien stressed that amid the strong development of Vietnam - Thailand ties, their defense cooperation has also seen positive progress, reflecting the mutual trust between the two militaries.

For his part, General Narongpan Jittkaewtae thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for its support to the cooperation between the Royal Thai Army and Vietnamese units. He believed that Vietnam will host ACAMM-23 and relevant meetings successfully.

The Thai senior defense leader also briefed General Chien on the outcomes of his previous talks with Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia.

General Chien highly appreciated the outcomes of the talks and agreed with cooperation contents reached by the two sides at the event. He invited leaders of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and the Thai Ministry of Defense to the first international defense expo in Hanoi, which is slated for upcoming December.

Previously, at the defense ministry’s headquarters, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia held talks with General Narongpan Jittkaewtae.

An overview of the talks

At the talks, the two sides agreed that the bilateral military and defense cooperation has been implemented effectively with practical achievements in numerous fields such as delegation exchange, information sharing, and mutual support at multilateral forums led by the ASEAN.

The two senior officers also discussed several cooperation contents such as reinforcing mutual trust and understanding via information sharing, enhancing delegation exchange at all levels, promoting cooperation in non-traditional security sectors such as search and rescue, military medicine, border management, and so on.
