Cambodian police delegation visits An Giang border troops
PANO - On the occasion of the recent merger between the border guard forces of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces into the newly-established An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, a delegation from the Kandal Provincial Police Commissariat of the Kingdom of Cambodia, led by its Director Lieutenant General Chhoeurn Sochet, paid a visit to extend congratulations and present gifts to officers and soldiers of the new command.
The visit held special significance, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and cooperation under the motto: “Good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability” between the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command and the authorities and armed forces of Kandal Province.

During the meeting, Lieutenant General Chhoeurn Sochet extended his heartfelt congratulations to all officers and soldiers of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command. On a personal note, he also congratulated Senior Colonel Pham Van Thang on his new assignment as Deputy Commanding Officer of the An Giang Provincial Military Command and Commanding Officer of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, as appointed by Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense.
Lieutenant General Chhoeurn Sochet expressed his delight at the effective cooperation over recent years between the border forces of the two provinces in safeguarding border sovereignty and combating various types of crimes, including drug and human trafficking, and high-tech crimes. He expressed his confidence that both sides would continue to strengthen their collaboration based on mutual trust, respect for sovereignty, and neighborly friendship, ensuring peaceful resolution of any emerging border issues.

The delegation also conveyed congratulatory messages and letters from leaders of the General Department of National Police under the Cambodian Ministry of Interior and the leadership of Kandal Province to all officers and soldiers of the An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command, and personally to Senior Colonel Pham Van Thang.
Senior Colonel Pham Van Thang expressed his sincere gratitude to the Kandal Provincial Police Commissariat’s delegation for their visit and sentiments. He affirmed that, in the time ahead, the two sides would maintain regular exchanges of information related to political security and social order, coordinate effectively in handling incidents along the shared border, promote public awareness among local residents about the enduring friendship between the two nations and their armed forces, and implement specific activities to boost economic development and maintain political stability and social order in the border area.
