Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of National Defense Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien affirmed that over 81 years of building and development, under the absolute and direct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in all aspects, and with the trust, care, and support of the people, the VPA has made tremendous contribution to the national liberation and Fatherland protection cause, successfully fulfilled noble international obligations, and is now advancing strongly into a new era, the era of national development toward prosperity and expanded international integration.

Implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development; diversification and multilateralization of relations; pro-active and active international integration; being a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community, the VPA remains steadfast in its “four no's” defense policy, aimed at peace, cooperation, and development, on the basis of respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity of nations, and equality for mutual benefit.

According to General Chien, the world situation is undergoing extremely rapid changes, creating an increasingly urgent need to strengthen cooperation among governments, peoples, and militaries of countries for the common goals of peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world. In this context, Vietnam in general, and the VPA in particular, will always be a sincere friend, an active and reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community.

Colonel Mick Jansen shares his positive impressions of the VPA.

Speaking on behalf of the Corps of Military Attachés in Vietnam, Colonel Mick Jansen, Defense Attaché of Australia and Head of the Corps of Military Attachés in Vietnam, shared his positive impressions of the VPA, while affirming its role and remarkable development over the past 81 years. 

Colonel Mick Jansen said he was impressed by the professionalism of Vietnamese officers and soldiers and was deeply moved by the affection that the Vietnamese people have for their military. He highly appreciated the military’s rapid response capability in disaster relief operations both domestically and internationally, notably its support in addressing the consequences of the earthquakes in Myanmar in March and April this year.

Expressing his regret as he prepares to conclude his term of office in Vietnam, Colonel Mick Jansen affirmed that his three years working in Vietnam represent one of the most outstanding milestones in his career, and the opportunity to work with and engage with the Vietnamese people has been a great joy throughout his time in the country. He added that he will return home with fond memories and a much deeper understanding of Vietnam’s important role in the region.
