Banquet held to celebrate Royal Thai Armed Forces’ foundation day
PANO - On January 16, the Thai Embassy in Hanoi hosted a banquet to celebrate the foundation day of the Royal Thai Armed Forces (January 18). Representing the Vietnam Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), attended the event.
In her speech, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya emphasized the Royal Thai Armed Forces' strong commitment to fostering cooperative relations with the Vietnam People's Army. Highlighting the development of bilateral cooperation between the two militaries over the past time, Ambassador Urawadee expressed her confidence that the partnership between the two sides would continue to expand and achieve new milestones in the coming years. She affirmed that this cooperation aligns with the aspirations and interests of people of both nations, contributing to peace and prosperity in the region and the world.

Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, in his remarks, reflected on nearly half a century of strengthened ties between Vietnam and Thailand since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1976. He noted that bilateral defense cooperation has steadily advanced, yielding practical results in areas such as delegation exchange, consultations and dialogues, collaboration between military sectors, human resource training, and more.

He expressed gratitude to the Thai Ministry of Defense and the Royal Thai Armed Forces for their support and for sending high-level delegations to participate in the celebration 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army, the 35th anniversary of All-People's National Defense Festive Day, and the Vietnam Defense Expo 2024, contributing significantly to the success of these events.
Acknowledging the vast potential for the Vietnam-Thailand defense cooperation in the future, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan believed that with political determination, goodwill, and joint efforts, the bilateral defense cooperation would grow even stronger. This would deepen the enhanced strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, benefiting both nations and contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
