After training in the Young Athletes Training Centre in Nam Dinh, the U19 girls moved to Tam Dao to improve their fitness on July 1.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the team had plans to train for 10 days in Guangzhou before the 2009 ASIAN Women's Football Championships. However, the team has now changed their plans and will practise in Wuhan, where the Championships will take place.

The squad and head coach Tran Ngoc Thai Tuan, will face the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on August 2, the Republic of Korea on August 4 and Thailand on August 6.

Meanwhile, the men’s U19 football team gathered at Thanh Long Sport Centre in Ho Chi Minh City on July 2 in preparation for the U19 South East Asia Football Championships.

The squad will have 33 members including 29 players. Head coach and also national veteran player Vo Hoang Buu will have more than one month to get his team ready for the tournament.

The Championships, scheduled for HCM City from August 5-15, will see the participation of 12 teams divided into 3 groups. Vietnam is in group A with Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Group B comprises Cambodia, Australia, Laos and Thailand, while Indonesia, Myanmar, East Timor and Brunei are in group C.

The teams will play in a round robin format with three group winners along with the best group runner-up qualifying for the semi finals.
