The delegation included Senior Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung, Deputy Director of the GDP, and a high-ranking political delegation of the VPA.
The delegation was welcomed by Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung, officers and staff of the embassy, the Defense Attaché Office of Viet Nam in Belarus, and representatives of the Vietnamese Association and overseas Vietnamese in Belarus.
Briefing the general and the delegation, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung stated that Viet Nam and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1992, and the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus was established in 2003. Despite a streamlined staff and limited facilities, the embassy has made continuous efforts to fulfill its duties as a representative mission of Viet Nam abroad.
Since the two countries elevated relations to a Strategic Partnership in May 2025, the embassy has focused on promoting political diplomacy, strengthening traditional friendship between the two peoples, and developing relations between the Communist Party of Viet Nam and political parties in Belarus. The embassy has also driven cooperation in economics, trade, investment, science, and technology.

The ambassador emphasized that defense and military-technical cooperation serve as crucial pillars in overall Viet Nam-Belarus relations. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic and periods of economic hardship, defense cooperation remained a highlight in bilateral ties. The embassy and the Defense Attaché Office maintain close coordination and mutual support. In addition to duties assigned by the MND, the office actively participates in community work and local diplomatic activities, making practical contribution to general embassy operations.
Regarding the overseas Vietnamese community, the ambassador informed that approximately 700 Vietnamese live in Belarus, mainly in major cities and most heavily in the capital city of Minsk. The community has integrated into local society while maintaining unity, mutual support, and the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese culture.
The Vietnamese Association in Belarus regularly organizes activities on traditional occasions, such as the Lunar New Year, National Day, Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day, and other major national holidays. A sustained initiative is the Vietnamese language class for children of overseas Vietnamese. Over the past decade, through contributions from association members and teachers, the class has helped younger generations preserve their mother tongue, understand the Vietnamese culture, and maintain intergenerational bonds. The embassy consistently accompanies and supports the association and community in local activities to leverage contributions of overseas Vietnamese toward the homeland and bilateral relations.

Addressing the meeting, the general expressed pleasure at visiting the embassy and meeting overseas Vietnamese in Belarus ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival alongside the high-ranking political delegation. Sharing the festive atmosphere from home, he noted that the delegation wished to bring warm feelings from the homeland to families, particularly children living far from the Fatherland.
The general highly appreciated the efforts and contributions of generations of staff at the embassy, the office, and the Vietnamese community in Belarus in preserving and nurturing bilateral ties. He emphasized that bilateral cooperation achievements reflect the direct contributions of the representative mission and overseas Vietnamese, who act as bridges connecting the peoples of the two nations.
Informing embassy staff and community members about the domestic situation, the general highlighted national determination to drive socio-economic development, improve living standards, and achieve development targets set by the 14th National Party Congress. He underscored that foreign affairs and international integration play a role in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, pro-actively creating conditions for national development, and contributing to global peace, stability, and development.
Regarding work concerning overseas Vietnamese, General Nghia emphasized that overseas Vietnamese constitute an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation and serve as a source of strength contributing to national development. He noted that while Vietnamese at home contribute to the world, overseas Vietnamese have various ways to contribute to the homeland.
He expressed his hope that the embassy and the community in Belarus will continue to promote solidarity, patriotism, and community cohesion. He urged them to study local realities to connect with the homeland and tap into potential areas of cooperation. He encouraged each individual to contribute to their family, homeland, and nation through their work and capabilities while preserving the reputation and positive image of Vietnamese people in Belarus.
Expressing emotion upon hearing about efforts to maintain Vietnamese language classes for children, the general shared that while conditions for teaching and learning Vietnamese vary across countries, community perseverance in overcoming obstacles demonstrates a desire to preserve language, culture, and national identity for future generations. He encouraged families to continue teaching Vietnamese so that parents and grandparents can guide children in preserving cultural identity and maintaining ties with the homeland.
On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, General Nghia extended wishes of health, happiness, and success to embassy staff and overseas Vietnamese, along with warm regards to children. He expressed his hope that the children would excel in their studies in Belarus while learning Vietnamese diligently to preserve and carry forward fine cultural traditions, remaining connected to the homeland regardless of distance.
