Wart-left bomb disposed in Yen Bai
PANO - On June 7, in Cuong Thinh commune, Tran Yen district, Yen Bai province, the Military Command of Yen Bai City, in coordination with the Engineering Board of the Yen Bai Provincial Military Command, successfully disposed of a 130kg bomb left over from the war, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and equipment.
Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on June 3, Le Minh Tuan, born in 1986, residing in Yen Minh hamlet, Minh Bao commune, Yen Bai city, discovered a bomb while digging earth to lower a slope and prevent landslides during the rainy season.

Upon receiving the report from local residents, the Military Command of Yen Bai City directed the military command of Minh Bao commune to deploy forces to secure the scene and guard the site while the disposal process was prepared. According to inspection and verification by the Engineering Board of the Yen Bai Provincial Military Command, the bomb was left over from the sabotage war in Northern Vietnam between 1968 and 1970. It had a rusted shell, was approximately 0.4m in diameter, 1m in length, weighed about 250 pounds (approximately 113kg).

The Engineering Board of the Yen Bai Provincial Military Command, in coordination with the Military Command of Yen Bai City, neutralized the fuse and transported the bomb to the designated disposal site in Cuong Thinh commune, Tran Yen district. The designated disposal location was 5km from the nearest residential area. The bomb was safely detonated using explosives, following all technical procedures.
