At the ceremony held by Military Region 7 at the Martyrs’ Memorial Temple in Long Khot Post National Historical Site in Tuyen Binh commune, Tay Ninh province, Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh, Deputy Chairman of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) and member of the National Steering Committee for the search, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains (Steering Committee 515), attended and presented gifts to encourage the K Teams.
Before the ceremony, Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh and the delegates laid flowers and offered incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs at the temple.

An overview of the ceremony |
For more than 25 years, the K Teams of Military Region 7 have overcome numerous difficulties, stayed close to local communities and worked closely with Cambodian authorities, armed forces and people to search for, recover and repatriate the remains of fallen Vietnamese servicemen. To date, Military Region 7 has recovered more than 12,000 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who died in Cambodia and organized their solemn repatriation, memorial services and reburials.
During the 2025-2026 dry season alone, teams K70, K71, K72 and K73 surveyed and searched for and recovered 603 sets of martyrs’ remains. The results reaffirmed the sense of responsibility, determination and perseverance of the teams’ members, while demonstrating the effectiveness of coordination between Military Region 7 and Cambodian authorities, armed forces and people. The teams also contributed to mass mobilization, defense diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy work.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7 Maj. Gen. Tran Chi Tam commended the K teams’ members for overcoming difficulties and hardships and remaining committed to their missions in Cambodia with a strong sense of responsibility, deep affection and determination.
He emphasized that duties in the 2026-2027 dry season will be carried out as the entire Party, military, people and political system focus on the “500-day-and-night campaign to step up the search for, collection and identification of martyrs’ remains,” toward the 80th anniversary of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2027). The campaign requires the teams to carry out their missions with greater determination, scientific rigor and responsibility.
Immediately after the ceremony, the delegates saw the K teams off as they crossed Binh Hiep International Border Gate in Binh Hiep commune, Tay Ninh province, into Cambodia to carry out their missions.

In An Giang province, Military Region 9’s Steering Committee 515 also held a send-off and task-assignment ceremony in Tinh Bien ward for K90 Team of the Military Region’s Political Department to carry out the same mission in the 2026-2027 dry season.
Since 2001, K90 Team has searched for and recovered 2,297 martyrs’ remains, including 132 whose identities have been established. Of these, 2,027 were recovered in Cambodia, including 120 identified remains, while 270 were recovered in Viet Nam, including 12 identified remains.

During the 2025-2026 dry season, K90 Team recovered 210 martyrs’ remains, including 145 in Viet Nam and 65 in Cambodia. Since August 1, it has recovered 12 more remains, including 10 in Vinh Long and two in Can Tho, while assisting and guiding temporary K Teams from Vinh Long and Ca Mau provinces and Can Tho city in recovering 70 remains.
Speaking on behalf of Military Region 9’s Steering Committee 515, Sr. Col. Nguyen Thuc Linh, Deputy Political Chief of the Military Region 9, asked K90 Team to coordinate closely with local authorities, the Royal Cambodian Army and relevant agencies in Kandal and Kampong Chhnang provinces to gather information supporting the search and recovery mission.

He also called for strict compliance with regulations, close management of personnel and activities, and absolute safety throughout operations. K90 Team was also asked to combine its search and recovery mission with mass mobilization and people-to-people diplomacy through medical examinations and treatment, visits and gift presentations, house repairs and environmental protection activities.
