Vietnam, Cambodia to promote search for Vietnamese soldiers’ remains
PANO - The Steering Board for the Search and Repatriation of Fallen Soldiers' Remains (Steering Board 1237 for short) of Kon Tum province had talks with the Special Mission of Ratanakiri province, Cambodia, on the search for, and subsequent repatriation of, in the 2017-2018 dry season, remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists who sacrificed themselves in Cambodia.
The two sides agree to foster the repatriation of remains of Vietnamese soldiers.
During the talks, the two sides agreed to continue instructing local authorities and people as well as border posts and police stations in border areas to create more favorable conditions for and work with Collection Team K53 of Kon Tum province in order to search and gather the remains of fallen Vietnamese soldiers and specialists. Furthermore, they will encourage the exchange of information about the progress of the work as well as collect information from local people on the possible locations of soldiers’ resting places.
Meanwhile, members of Collection Team K53 will strictly obey Cambodia’s law and follow locals’ customs.
As planned, Collection Team K53 will be sent to Ratanakiri province by the end of this month, in order to start the search and repatriation work in the 2017-2018 dry season.
