MND hands over DNA tests on remains of martyrs
PANO - The Ministry of National Defense (MND) held a conference on July 26 to hand over the results of DNA tests on the remains of martyrs to their families, under the chair of Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh.
From July 11 to 22, the Military Institute of Forensic coordinated with functional agencies, local authorities, and relevant units to review and collect information, obtain samples, and conduct DNA testing on the remains of fallen soldiers and their relatives. As a result, the identities of six martyrs were successfully confirmed, namely Vu Hong Doanh, Pham Van Dien, Nguyen Huy To, Le Quyet Chien, Ngo Van Phong, and Le Dong Coi. The functional agencies are completing procedures to hand over the DNA test results to the families of the fallen soldiers.

In his speech, Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh underscored that the identification of the six martyrs is not only a technical outcome, but also a moral commitment, a sacred gesture reflecting the deep gratitude of the Party, State, military, and people toward fallen soldiers. He acknowledged and appreciated the active support and coordination of relevant agencies, local authorities, and the families of the martyrs in providing information and biological samples, which facilitated the smooth and effective implementation of the DNA identification process.

In the time to come, the MND will continue to direct and mobilize the full intellectual and operational capacity of relevant forces, strengthen international cooperation, and closely coordinate with local authorities and the families of martyrs to accelerate the progress and improve the effectiveness of the search, collection, and DNA identification of martyrs’ remains.
