The IFC currently maintains links with the navies, maritime law enforcement agencies, and shipping industries of more than 40 countries worldwide. It also serves as a channel connecting the Singaporean Navy with partners to address maritime security threats such as piracy, maritime terrorism, smuggling, arms trafficking, illegal migration, illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, maritime accidents, and natural disasters.
Capt. Hang will serve at the IFC from August 15, 2025, to February 12, 2026. Her primary duties will include sharing maritime news, reports, and information on incidents to relevant countries upon receiving updates at the center; contacting relevant Vietnamese agencies when incidents involve Vietnam; participating in discussions with other liaison officers to analyze information and produce research products and trend analyses; and assisting in planning and implementing the center’s activities.

At the meeting, General Kien stressed the important role of the IFC. The Vietnam Coast Guard has previously sent three officers to the IFC, all of whom were highly regarded for their competence, responsibility, and intellect, further affirming the Vietnam Coast Guard’s credibility in fulfilling international duties. Capt. Hang is the first female officer of the Vietnam Coast Guard to be assigned to the IFC. Therefore, she must uphold responsibility, intellect, and professional courage to excel in her mission, proving that female coast guard officers are not only capable at work and exemplary in family life, but also effective in performing international duties.
