The image of soldiers helping local residents vividly demonstrated the spirit of "The post is home, the border is homeland, and the people are family." Major Nguyen Van The, Deputy Political Officer of Long Khot Border Post, said that for troops, mass mobilization is not just a duty but also an expression of affection and responsibility. In border areas, the bond between soldiers and the people is shown through simple daily acts.

After the work session, the post’s officers and soldiers visited 84-year-old Le Thi Tai, a wounded veteran who lives with her husband in a dilapidated house. Besides giving gifts, they also helped clean her house, checked her blood pressure, provided medicine, and offered advice on diet and rest. Knowing about the couple's difficult circumstances, the unit regularly visits to offer encouragement, deliver gifts during holidays and Tet, and provide essential supplies during heavy storms.
Supporting residents in the area is a regular mission of Long Khot Border Post. Many programs and initiatives have been implemented effectively, such as "Border posts’ foster children," "Paving the way to school for children," "Sponsoring the elderly," "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing," and "One address each week." Since the beginning of 2025, the unit has distributed more than 200 gift packages to local policy-beneficiary families, supported 44 disadvantaged students in their studies, and provided two houses for needy women’s union members. The total funding for these activities has exceeded VND 293 million.
The unit has also helped build or repair houses, clear rural roads, and organize public clean-up campaigns in residential areas, contributing nearly 100 workdays. Nguyen Vu An, Secretary of the Tuyen Binh commune's Youth Chapter, commented, “The soldiers not only protect peace along the border but also leave a deep impression on local residents through practical, meaningful outreach activities. They are role models for young people to follow.”

Alongside material support for building new-style rural areas, the post’s officers and soldiers also educate residents about legal matters and strengthen community unity. Many of the soldiers' quiet yet deeply meaningful actions have become a vital link connecting the Party, Government, military, and the people, helping improve locals’ living standards day by day, thus warming hearts and fortifying the nation’s borders.
