MR9 fosters cooperation with Cambodian provinces in searching for martyrs’ remains
PANO – Military Region (MR) 9’s Steering Board for Search and Collection of Fallen Soldiers' Remains (Steering Board 1237 in short) and Cambodia’s Kandal and Kongpong Chnang provinces have reached an agreement to continue their cooperation in searching and repatriating remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia.
During the 2016-2017 dry season, teams K90, K91, K92 and K93 of MR9 repatriated 267 sets of remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers.

Major General Phan Van Chua, MR9’s Deputy Commissar and the board’s head, said that based on the recorded results, in the 2017-2018 dry season, the two sides will continue cooperating to realize the agreements signed by the special missions of Vietnamese and Cambodian Governments and MR9’s Steering Board 1237 and Cambodian provinces, making contributions to raising the efficiency of the search and collection work.
At a recent meeting, the steering board set a target to repatriate all the sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and specialists in Cambodia by 2020.
