Vietnam Coast Guard Command inspects units on Tho Chau Island

The Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command hands over gifts to local authorities and people.

The delegation inspected the combat readiness status of Coast Guard Station No.4 under the Coast Guard Region 4 Command. General Oai praised the efforts of the unit in carrying out its tasks. Despite difficulties and challenges, the unit’s officers and soldiers have stayed united and been determined to fulfill their mission.

The Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command emphasized that during the lunar New Year, in addition to maintaining combat readiness, the station should ensure that its officers and soldiers have a warm and joyful New Year.

While visiting and presenting Tet gifts to troops of Regiment 152 of Military Region 9 and the party committee and authorities of Tho Chau island commune, General Oai expressed his joy at the changes and progress made by troops and people in the island commune. He highlighted the importance of the island as a key outpost for protecting the national sovereignty over sea, islands, and continental shelf and the local efforts to promote economic and social development.

On this occasion, the Vietnam coast guard delegation presented gifts and extended New Year greetings to the authorities, people of Tho Chau island commune and troops of Regiment 152; handed over 24 gift packages to policy beneficiaries and poor households, and three scholarships (VND 12 million per year each) for disadvantaged local students with outstanding academic results.

On the same day, the Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and the delegation visited fishing vessels docked at Tho Chau Port. The delegation disseminated regulations on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing to fishermen and on ensuring safe fishing practices. Talking with the fishermen, General Oai encouraged them to comply with the law and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure safe and legal fishing activities.

As the lunar New Year is coming, Lt. Gen. Bui Quoc Oai and the delegation also presented essential goods and national flags to fishermen.
