The delegation was led by General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP).

The delegation’s first destination was the Tran Hung Dao Forest Special National Historic Site, a particularly significant historical landmark marking the birth of the Vietnam Dissemination and Liberation Armed Team, the predecessor of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army. In a solemn atmosphere, the delegation expressed profound gratitude to General Vo Nguyen Giap, a steadfast revolutionary, an outstanding and close disciple of President Ho Chi Minh, and an exceptional military talent who made great and especially distinguished contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

During the visit to the Tran Hung Dao Forest Special National Historic Site, members of the delegation recalled the nation’s tradition of defending the country, the glorious tradition of the VPA, the significance of the Whole-People’s Defense Festive Day, and major achievements in building a strong all-people's defense.

The delegation also visited Tam Kim commune, during which General Nguyen Trong Nghia and other members of the delegation met with and presented gifts to 30 policy families and national contributors. The delegation warmly inquired after the families and listened attentively to their sincere reflections and sharing.

* On the same day, General Nghia held a working session with the leadership of Cao Bang province. Reporting on recent socio-economic development and the safeguarding of national defense and security, provincial leaders stated that the Party Committee, local authorities, people of all ethnic groups, and the provincial armed forces have taken comprehensive measures to fully leverage local potential and advantages, while consistently strengthening national defense and security in close association with the people’s security posture and integrating defense and security with economic development. At the same time, relations between authorities, sectors, and people living both sides of the shared Vietnam - China borderline have continued to be consolidated and developed.

The GDP’s Chief expressed his satisfaction with and congratulations on the achievements attained by the Party Committee, authorities, and people of Cao Bang province in recent years. He urged the province to continue promoting a pro-active and responsible spirit, closely following practical realities in order to effectively carry out socio-economic development tasks in conjunction with strengthening national defense and security in the new period.

He requested that Cao Bang should promptly address issues affecting the Tran Hung Dao Forest Special National Historic Site, which has been directly impacted by natural disasters and landslides. He called for the immediate deployment of necessary technical measures to prevent damage and deterioration, along with the urgent completion of documentation and reports to competent authorities in order to propose comprehensive and long-term solutions, ensuring compliance with heritage protection regulations while meeting urgent practical requirements.

He also urged the province to focus on effectively implementing three major development programs of developing culture in association with tourism, developing the border trade economy, and developing a sustainable forest-based economy. In addition, Cao Bang was encouraged to prioritize breakthrough areas, including the development of high-quality human resources, accelerated investment in infrastructure, particularly strategic transport infrastructure, and the promotion of science, technology, and digital transformation, closely linked with strengthening telecommunications and internet infrastructure and implementing the digital literacy movement. In terms of national defense and security, the province was urged to continue building stable, long-term, friendly relations among those along the border, effectively combining socio-economic development and defense, security consolidation, while ensuring close coordination among forces in safeguarding both traditional and non-traditional security.
