Con Dao Border Station rescues eight distressed fishermen
PANO – On the morning of October 31, troops from Con Dao Border Station (under the Border Guard Command under the Military Command of Ho Chi Minh City) successfully rescued eight fishermen after their fishing boat sank off the coast of the Con Dao Special Administrative Region.
At 6 a.m., Ben Dam Control Station of the Con Dao Border Station received a report that a fishing vessel had been struck and sunk by a cargo ship approximately 5 nautical miles from Con Dao, with eight fishermen on board.

Immediately after receiving the information, the unit swiftly mobilized its personnel and requisitioned fishing boat BV 92927 TS, owned by Nguyen Vo Cong and captained by Nguyen Van Dung (born in 1984), together with five officers and soldiers, to the scene of the accident.
At 7:35 a.m., the rescue team located eight people drifting at sea while the fishing vessel was partially submerged. Despite rough seas and strong winds, the border troops and fishermen managed to rescue all eight victims and brought them safely ashore at 9 a.m. the same day.
The rescued fishermen were given first aid, medical care, and accommodation. According to verification, the sunken vessel was fishing boat BT 93839 TS, owned and captained by Nguyen Van Si, a resident of Vinh Long province.

As reported by the captain and supported by photographic evidence, at about 4 a.m. on October 31, the fishing vessel was struck by a foreign cargo ship named MINAMITO, causing it to sink. The incident is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.
