The victim was taken back to Vietnam on August 20 through the Moc Bai international border gate in Tay Ninh province and handed over to the local authorities and her family.

As reported, the victim is Y.L., born in 2006, from Kei Joi village, Dak Xu commune, Ngoc Hoi district, Kon Tum province.

On July 17, Y.L. contacted her family via Facebook Messenger and confirmed that she was tricked and sold to Cambodia.

Earlier, in April, Y.L. was a worker at a leather shoe company in Binh Duong province. She got in touch with a man called L.N.N. on Facebook.

L.N.N. (the trafficker) offered to help her get a decent job with a high salary in a Chinese-owned company in Cambodia.

On April 18, the trafficker brought Y.L. and five more people, including two women and three men (unknown personal information), to Cambodia. Once they arrived in Cambodia, they were forced to do hard work in different places and could not contact with each other. After that, the trafficker cut off communications with Y.L.

According to Y.L., the trafficker sold her to the first company for 1,800 USD, then to other companies. Due to the pressure and high requirements, Y.L. refused to work and wanted to quit her job. However, the company owner ordered her to pay 3,500 USD to return home or trick three to five other people to work for the company.

Upon knowing this information, Y.L.’s family reported the case to Dak Xu Border Station under the Kon Tum provincial Border Guard Command and asked for help.

After keeping track of the trafficking journey, the rescue team found Y.L. in room 311 on the third floor of building F in Sihanouk province, Cambodia, about 470 kilometers South of the Moc Bai International Border Gate (Tay Ninh province).
