Nam Du is located in Kien Hai district, Kien Giang province, about 110km Northeast of Rach Gia city. The archipelago consists of 21 large and small islands, of which 11 are inhabited.

Accordingly, Nam Du is an archipelago that has favorable natural conditions. It is also considered “Ha Long Bay” in the Southwest of the country. This offers the archipelago good opportunities to promote socio-economic development, especially tourism service and build a posture of defense and security.

Over the past years, the Party and the State have paid close attention to upgrading infrastructure facilities, including systems of berths and roads surrounding the archipelago, schools, medical stations, social security projects, to serve the material and spiritual lives of troops and local people.

Attentively, in An Son island commune, local authorities and people have built a memorial stele to commemorate nearly 500 fishermen who died in Storm No.5 in 1997.

Below are some photos featuring the sentiment of localities in the mainland towards troops and local people in Nam Du archipelago.
