During the visits, the deputy defense minister inquired after the former defense leaders and expressed gratitude to their great contribution to the national liberation and construction cause and the military building over the past time. He took the occasion to brief the retired generals on the military’s outstanding results in 2023.

This year, under the leadership and direction of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, the whole military has comprehensively completed assigned missions. Agencies and units have accurately forecast and evaluated the military and defense situation and made timely recommendation to the Party and State to handle circumstances in a flexible and effective manner, contributing to firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland. 

In addition, the whole military has applied measures to building elite, compact, strong, and modernized military to successfully complete all assigned missions; strictly observed combat readiness; actively and effectively responded to natural disasters and participated in search and rescue.

General Luong expected that the former deputy defense ministers will continue to contribute constructive opinions to building a stronger Vietnam People’s Army.

The same day, the delegation visited and presented gifts to the family of late Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, former deputy defense minister.
