The visit was made on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 - 2023).

Inquiring after the two generals’ health, Gen. Giang emphasized that under the leadership of the Party, the two military senior leaders made important contribution to the national resistance wars against foreign invaders, contributing to the national independence and the nation’s path towards socialism.

Gen. Giang added that after the country was reunified, both officials, as key cadres of the military, together with the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Central Military Commission led the renewal, national industrialization, modernization and international integration cause, the constant improvement of the military’s synergy, upholding of national independence, sovereignty and security, reaping outstanding achievements.

Talking to Generals Tra and Lich, Gen. Giang happily informed them about the attainments gained by the whole military in the first six months of 2023. Particularly, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense directed the whole military to comprehensively carry out all duties, with some outstanding results in grasping and forecasting situational developments, and in giving timely suggestions to the Party and State to handle situations in a flexible and effective manner.

The defense chief also laid stress on the military’s strict observance of combat readiness posture, close management of the national sky, waters, border, inland, and cyber space, close coordination with other forces to uphold order and security across the country and ensure safety of important political events of the country, as well as effective prevention of disease and disasters and search and rescue operations, receiving high applause from the public.

During the visits, Gen. Giang also talked about major missions that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense are focusing on to implement. He hoped that both retired officials will continue to observe and contribute opinions to building a strong Vietnam People’s Army capable of excellently completing all assignments, deserving to be a reliable support of the Party, State and trust of the people.
