At the working session, GDDI leaders reported on the department’s performance of tasks directed by the Defense Minister. They stressed that the Party, State, Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense have always paid due attention and given direction to the defense industry sector. In addition, they have considered defense industry development one of the key missions and breakthroughs to meet the requirements of modernizing the military, strengthening defense potential, national strength, and safeguarding the Fatherland in the new situation. Attentively, the general department has made outstanding progress in research, design, manufacturing, and production of defense products over the past time.

On hearing the reports and opinions of delegates. General Phan Van Giang highly praised the GDDI for its outstanding outcomes.

He expressed his delight at visiting the new headquarters of the GDDI, which marks its development and contributes to realizing military modernization policy. He urged the department’s cadres, staff, soldiers, and workers to promote the spirit of “new thinking, new vision” to successfully accomplish all assigned missions.

The defense chief noted that in the time ahead, the GDDI should continue to strengthen domestic and international cooperation in scientific-technological research. It should study and propose solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles in mechanisms, policies, and technical technologies, shorten research time, and soon bring new products into production to provide for the military. He also asked it to place priority in attracting talents, improving the quality of human resources, and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of production and business operations.
