The visits were made to mark the 48th anniversary of the Southern liberation and national reunification day (April 30, 1975 - 2023).
During the visits, General Phan Van Giang inquired after the health and life of Gen. Pham Van Tra, Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, and Lt. Gen. Dang Quan Thuy and wished them good health and happiness. He hoped that the former officials will continue to contribute valuable ideas to the defense consolidation, national protection, and military building.

During conversations, the Defense Minister expressed deep gratitude to the former National Assembly and Defense Ministry leaders for their important contribution to national liberation and unification in the past and to current socialism construction and defense cause.
Briefing them on the outstanding achievements of the military over the past time, General Phan Van Giang affirmed that with solidarity and high consensus, party committees and chains-of-command at all levels and troops in the whole military have strived to complete all set military and defense missions and targets, being a reliable and firm supporter of the Party, State, and people.

The three generals thanked the Central Military Commission (CMC), the Ministry of National Defense (MND), and personally General Phan Van Giang for their concern. They expressed delight at the efforts and comprehensive task accomplishment of the military and believed that under the leadership and direction of the Party and State, and directly the CMC and MND leaders, the whole military will uphold the vanguard role and excellently complete the strategic task of national construction and defense in the new period.

The same day, General Phan Van Giang offered incense in commemoration of the contribution of late General Phung Quang Thanh, former Defense Minister, to the revolutionary cause of the Party and nation, military building, and defense consolidation. General Phan Van Giang inquired after the health of the late general’s family members and hoped that they will uphold their family’s tradition and contribute to building more prosperous and civilized hometown and nation.
