Cam Ranh International Port is the first port in Vietnam designed to allow ships to shelter from high winds at the eighth Beaufort scale and a logistical and technical base of the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Ministry of National Defense in wartime and peacetime. Over the past time, the Cam Ranh International Port has been highly appreciated by international friends for its excellent logistical and technical services. Its achievements have contributed to raising the stature of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Vietnam People’s Navy in the region and the world as a whole and affirming the sound external defense relations policies of the Party and State.
At the meeting, Commander of the Naval Region 4 Command Senior Colonel Nguyen Dinh Hung briefed delegates on the outcomes of military and defense missions in 2020 as well as political missions for 2021. Last year, the naval region firmly safeguarded national sovereignty over seas and islands, conducted search and rescue missions, actively responded to natural disasters, and effectively fought diseases. Naval Region 4 also effectively carried out external defense relations activities in Vietnam’s 2020 Chairmanship Year.
Speaking at the meeting, General Vinh also praised and highly appreciated the achievements of the Saigon Newport Corporation and Naval Region 4 in 2020. Despite the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, Naval Region 4 sent its ships to participate in external defense relations events and welcomed foreign crewmembers to take part in events hosted in Vietnam.
The Deputy Defense Minister asked the Saigon Newport Corporation to continue carrying out military and defense missions and complete all production targets set for 2021. He also urged naval troops in general and personnel of the Naval Region 4 Command in particular to raise their command of foreign languages to effectively meet new task requirements.
