Speaking at the ceremony, Mai affirmed the significance of the “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho” tree-planting festival initiated by President Ho Chi Minh decades ago. Mai said that eco-environmental protection is one of the important contents in the national sustainable development strategy and in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. She stated she hopes that the Vietnamese Women’s Union will continue to mobilize its members to join the armed forces’ efforts in planting trees in particular and hosting environmental protection activities in general.

For her part, President of the Vietnamese Women’s Union Ha Thi Nga said, in the 2021-2025 period, women’s associations at all levels will mobilize their members to plant 20 million trees in residential areas, industrial zones, cultural and historical sites, and memorial areas, among others. The efforts aim to realize the Prime Minister’s initiative to plant 1 billion trees in the five-year period.

On the occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Women’s Union handed financial assistance to Major Nguyen Dinh Du (driver at Regiment 102) and Lieutenant Tran Ngoc Thuan (a staff of Regiment 141) for housing construction and presented scholarships to 40 children whose parents are personnel of Regiments 102 and 141. The unit also presented sport kits and bookshelves to Regiment 102 and Regiment 141.
