Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of the PAN’s staff, Editor-in-Chief of the PAN Senior Colonel Doan Xuan Bo stressed that the establishment and development of the PAN has always been attached to the progress of the revolution of Vietnam, the Vietnam People’s Army and the Vietnamese revolutionary press sector. Right after its birth, when preparing for the first issue on October 20, 1950, the PAN received advice from President Ho Chi Minh, which read, “Write most essential information, in line with the political guideline, with little humor; keep it short and simple; drawings should be easily understandable and page-breaks on the articles should be avoided.” The valuable teaching of Uncle Ho has become not only the guideline for the military press but also for the whole Vietnamese revolutionary press sector.

Hot articles about the combat situation in the Border Operation, about battlefields from the lowland to the highland in the North and the Northwestern region, and more then contributed to promoting and encouraging the combat spirit of the entire people and military.

Especially, during the Dien Bien Phu Operation, the PAN formed its frontline office, the only press office of this kind in the history of the Vietnamese revolutionary press sector, and published 33 newspaper issues right at the battlefield. That contributed greatly to the common final victory of the Dien Bien Phu Operation.

During the resistance war against U.S. invaders and later in the cause of national construction and defense, the PAN has made remarkable achievements; as a result, it has been presented with honorable titles and orders of the Party and State.
