PANO – Soldiers of Vietnam’s Naval Force rescued 9 foreign sailors who were in distress in the sea near Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago on May 3rd.
One of those distressed was from Myanmar with two Malaysians and six Indonesians. They were sailing from Singapore to Thailand when their ship was attacked by pirates, and the crew were dumped into the sea and then rescued by the Vietnamese navy. The Vietnamese military will help these foreign sailors return home as soon as possible.
Meanwhile Military doctors on Phan Vinh Island in the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, have saved a fisherman’s life.
The man, Pham Van Ket, from Quang Ngai province, was injured seriously while fishing at sea. He has basically recovered now and will be sent to Danang General Hospital for further treatment.
