Military units asked to boost settlement of UXO consequences
PANO - The Permanent Agency of the National Steering Committee on the Settlement of War-Left Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Toxic Chemical Consequences (Steering Committee 701 in short) organized a conference to review the implementation of the conclusion of the Prime Minister on the settlement of war-left UXO and toxic chemical consequences on September 20 in Hanoi.
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Defense Minister and Head of the Permanent Agency of Steering Committee 701 presided over the meeting.
Over the past time, the Agency has embraced the Prime Minister’s conclusion on the work and instructed relevant military and civilian agencies and units to seriously implement the conclusion.

It also complied documents helping leaders of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) assign tasks to the MND’s affiliated agencies and units, and other documents to be sent to related ministries and departments regulating the coordination between civilian and military units in implementing the conclusion.
In his speech, General Vinh acknowledged and applauded the good outcomes of military agencies' and units’ task performances.
General Vinh asked the Agency and chains-of-command of relevant units to heighten their responsibilities, make more efforts, draw up plans in a scientific manner, cooperate closely with other military and civilian agencies and units, and bring into play combined strength to complete the work in line with the Prime Minister’s conclusion.
The Head of the Permanent Agency of Steering Committee 701 also asked the staff of the Agency to develop a working plan, well maintain its operation, recognize both opportunities and challenges for relevant agencies and units and give recommendations to leaders of the Agency, the Central Military Commission and the MND to contribute to the accomplishment of the set targets of the work.
