Public awareness of UXO consequences raised
PANO - The Vietnam Bombs and Mines Action Support Association (VBMASA) held a conference on Nov. 10 in Hanoi to review its task performance over the past three years.
The event saw of the participation of Senior Lieutenant General Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and member of the National Steering Committee on overcoming the aftermaths of bombs and mines left behind from the war (Steering Committee 504), attended the event.
VBMASA was founded in 2014 in a bid to gather individuals and organizations at home and abroad to provide more supports for bombs and mines action programs, contributing to softening the impacts of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and securing benefits for UXO victims.

After three years of operation, the association set up 18 sub-associations nationwide with 1,500 members. Its members have actively joined information dissemination to raise public awareness of bomb and mine accidents while mobilizing donators to help address the UXO aftermaths.
VBMASA planned to expand their organization, provide more aid to UXO victims and accelerate international cooperation on overcoming bomb and mine consequences in the time to come.
Addressing the event, General Minh requested the organization to continue promoting its role, especially in information dissemination to raise the community’s awareness, gathering supports both at home and overseas to support UXO victims, contributing to creating a peaceful living environment for people and developing the country’s economy.
