Meeting highlights good task performance of Commando Corps
PANO - On March 19, the Commando Corps held a meeting on the occasion of its receiving the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces for the third time and celebration of its 59th founding anniversary (March 19, 1967 - 2026) in the presence of Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Quang Ngoc and Deputy Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Nguyen Ba Luc.
On December 27, 2025, at the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress, the Commando Corps was honored with the title Hero of the People’s Armed Forces for the third time. It was the acknowledgement and high appreciation of the Party, the State, and the people for the commando force’s absolute loyalty, firm stance, eliteness, and outstanding achievements.

In his speech, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Commando Corps Maj. Gen. Nguyen Quoc Duan emphasized that starting with small and dispersed units, the corps has constantly and strongly developed. Fully-organized in accordance with staffing structures and operational plans and equipped with modern weapons and equipment, the corps is capable of accomplishing all assignments in the new situation.
Addressing the meeting, Gen. Ngoc applauded commando troops and the Commando Corps for their attainments over the past years. He asked the corps to focus on improving training quality, combat readiness capacity, command capability, service-to-service coordination and especially independent operational capacity in any circumstances.

The corps was urged to continue studying and developing distinctive commando operational art suited to the people’s warfare posture for national defense and the requirements of high-tech warfare; mastering modern weapons and equipment to ensure readiness to fight and win in all situations. It must also proactively implement measures to enhance reconnaissance capabilities, keep a close watch on the situational development and respond swiftly and effectively to any contingencies to avoid passivity or surprise.
Other tasks the Corps should pay attention to include effective implementation of policy for military rear, gratitude activities; timely encouragement and commendation for troops to fulfill their missions; enhancement of military-civilian bonds, close ties with local Party committees and authorities in stationed and operational areas; active engagement in disaster relief efforts, search and rescue operations, and local socio-economic development.
