* Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) attended a meeting to send recruits from Phu Ninh district, Phu Tho province, to military units for the national service.
The event also saw the participation of Major General Phung Si Tan, Commander of the Military Region 2 Command; Major General Trinh Van Quyet, Political Commissar of the Military Region 2 Command; and Mr. Hoang Dan Mac, the provincial Party Committee Secretary.

Bidding farewell to the recruits and inquiring after their relatives, General Cuong asked them to uphold tradition of the heroic province of Phu Tho to complete all assigned tasks.
* Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai encouraged recruits from Phuc Tho district, Hanoi, to successfully fulfill their tasks at their military units.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Do Can, Deputy Director of the VPA’s General Department of Politics, gave flowers and encouragement to 140 enlistees doing the national service in Thach That district, Hanoi.
Notably, 54% of them are graduates of universities and colleges, while 124 wrote petitions to join the military.
General Can urged them to do their utmost at their units to contribute to the continued building of a revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually modernized military.
On the same day, Hoai Duc district of Hanoi completed the handover of enlistees to units.

* Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Deputy Chief of the VPA’s General Staff attended the see-off ceremony in Phu Ly city, Ha Nam province, and gave encouragement to selected youths to military units.
* On the same day, solemn see-off ceremonies were also held in localities under Military Regions 3 and 5, provinces of Quang Nam, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Tuyen Quang, Quang Binh, Thua Thien-Hue, Phu Yen, and Binh Dinh; and Da Nang city.
This year, the quality of recruitment in those aforementioned localities has improved in terms of health and education. Among the selected youths, many are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and hold university and college degrees. Many others volunteered to join the military.
To have such a successful enlistment drive, the councils of military service at all levels visited and popularized the amended Law on Military Service to families as well as encouraged youths to join the military. Previously, localities held various activities, such as artistic exchanges and gift presentation, to encourage recruits to best complete their assigned missions.
Besides, local businesses also committed to giving employment or enrollment in vocational trainings to the recruits after they complete the military service.
