Non-commissioned Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Quoc Viet has worked at Regiment 894 under the Bac Lieu provincial Military Command for a decade. Born and raised in An Trach A commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province, in a family of six siblings, Viet got married in 2016. He lived with his parents in an inherited house that downgraded over the years.
Knowing Viet’s difficulties, the regiment proposed to functional authorities of the Bac Lieu provincial Military Command to provide financial assistance for building a comradeship house. Upon approval, the command extracted VND 50 million from the comradeship housing fund and coordinated with Viet’s family to start the project.

The construction of the 140 square meter house was completed and handed over at the end of 2021. Now, Viet’s family has a stable place to live.
In October 2023, the Bac Lieu provincial Military Command handed over a comradeship house to Major Le Trung Hieu, who is working at Vinh Loi district's Military Command. After more than three months of construction, with assistance from the unit and local authorities, the house was unveiled as scheduled with good quality. At the handover ceremony, the unit and local authorities also presented gifts to Hieu’s family.
The new house includes a room for Hieu’s parents, a room for Hieu and his wife, and separate rooms for his two daughters. Receiving the new house, Hieu’s family members were delighted and expressed gratitude to officers and soldiers of the Bac Lieu provincial Military Command.
Last September, representatives from the Bac Lieu provincial Military Command and comrades also held a ceremony to grant a comradeship house to Major Phan Tan Dat, who is working at the Hoa Binh district Military Command. Dat held that living in this new home, his wife now is able to take their children to school, as the house is close to the school.
According to Senior Colonel Nguyen Van To, Deputy Political Commissar of the Bac Lieu provincial Military Command, since the launch of the “Comradeship House” program in 2014, the unit has helped 95 needy military officers and soldiers to build comradeship houses, contributing to encouraging and helping them stabilize their lives.
Living in new houses, the recipients feel more confident about the future. At the same time, this initiative has strengthened comradeship in Bac Lieu province.
