General Staff inspects protection work for the DPRK-USA Summit
PANO - Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, on February 25 inspected the preparation work of military units for the protection of the DPRK-USA Summit.
In order to ensure absolute safety for the DPRK-USA Summit, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have assigned specific tasks and requested agencies, units, functional forces to roll out plans and closely coordinate with each other so as not to be put in a passive and surprised position by any situation.
Having visited the operational areas where forces of the Electronic Warfare Department of the VPA’s General Staff, the Engineering Arm, the Signal Arm, the Chemical Corps, the Hanoi Capital High Command, and the Border Guard High Command are operating, Gen. Giang highly praised the effort and sense of responsibility of the on-duty troops in implementing their assigned tasks. By now, the units have completely deployed their forces as planned.

At the event, Gen. Giang expressed his confidence in the high determination and combat readiness of the troops, and asked the units' commanders at all levels to thoroughly grasp the situation and assign suitable and concrete tasks to each soldier and each force.
As for important missions, Gen. Giang requested the units' commanders to mobilize more troops and vehicles to be ready for urgent situations.
The second summit between the leaders of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the USA in Hanoi is an event of great political significance. Ensuring absolute safety for this important event to contribute to the success of the meeting will demonstrate the quality of the units' combat readiness.
