The event was part of the activities to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

During the visit, General Tung extended his warm regards, inquiring after General Dung and his family and reporting on several key developments regarding the country’s situation, the implementation of military and defense tasks and Party and political work throughout the armed forces.

The GDP’s deputy chief said that in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of the National Day, the entire military has been actively carrying out many political and social activities, most notably joint training and rehearsals in preparation for the parade in the capital city of Hanoi.

He affirmed that under any circumstances, the Vietnam People’s Army remains absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people, upholding and promoting the nature and traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. Officers and soldiers in the whole military always value, inherit, and build upon the invaluable experience and great contribution of previous generations of leaders and commanders, among whom General Le Van Dung stands as an exemplary figure.

General Tung expressed deep gratitude for General Le Van Dung’s contribution to the nation’s revolutionary cause and to military building. He wished the General and his family good health and happiness, and hoped that he would continue to offer advice, share experience, and provide guidance to the leadership of the GDP and officers at all levels, helping the general department as well as agencies and units across the armed forces successfully accomplish the missions entrusted by the Party and the people.

The former Chief of the GDP expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the affection shown by the officers and soldiers of the GDP, reaffirmed his absolute trust in the leadership of the Party, the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the GDP; hoped that today’s officers and soldiers will continue to uphold the traditions of solidarity and unity; firmly safeguard the Party’s ideological front within the military; constantly improve the quality of training and combat readiness capabilities; and successfully complete all assigned tasks.

The visit and gift presentation embody the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and “gratitude” of the Vietnamese people. It helped nurture traditions, strengthen faith, and inspire pride and responsibility among officers and soldiers in the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
