During the event, the leadership and delegates were briefed upon outcomes of activities in celebration of the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th anniversary of the whole-people’s defense festive day, and the GDP’s 80th anniversary of its foundation day.
Accordingly, functional units have made recommendations to GDP leaders and the organizing panels of the events to direct affiliated agencies to effectively carry out these activities. In addition, they have compiled, published and distributed documents concerning the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory in the whole military, worked with the Dissemination Department of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education to make an outline in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, among others.
Meanwhile, units in the whole military have well disseminated information about a national-level scientific conference themed “Dien Bien Phu Victory in the cause of safeguarding and building the Socialist Republic of Vietnam,” launched a competition on the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, and held “return-to-the-root” trips, art exchanges, and seminars, to name but a few.
Furthermore, military press agencies have also opened specialized columns, seminars, a bicycle race, art exchange programs, and more in celebration of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
Especially, the Ministry of National Defense and military units have supported Dien Bien province to build three public facilities, nearly 500 comradeship, gratitude and “great unity” houses; provided free health check-ups and medicines and presented gifts to policy households. They have also worked with the Vietnam Veterans Association Central Committee to organize a meeting for war veterans and youth volunteers during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
Regarding activities in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the whole-people’s defense festive day, functional units have also made recommendations on the organization of the tenth popular art festival for armed forces, youths and students in 2024, coordinated with the Vietnam Television to organize dissemination programs in 2024, worked with relevant units to build memorial houses, upgraded war cemeteries, and joined hands in building gratitude and comradeship houses.
In acknowledgement of the units’ responsibility, General Cuong requested them to observe all regulations of the Party and State on organizing the events. Regarding the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, functional units should further boost dissemination work while ensuring security and safety and launching emulation movements. He also emphasized the importance of organizing activities in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the foundation day of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th anniversary of the whole-people’s defense festive day.
The GDP chief asked military units to closely work together to implement these activities and boost dissemination work among troops to raise their awareness of the heroic traditions of the Vietnam People’s Army and the GDP in the cause of national liberation, construction and protection.
