The event was held for secondary school students from coastal communes and wards across the province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Senior Colonel Nguyen Thai Duong, Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command, emphasized that the contest is a key activity to implement the Ministry of National Defense’s Project No.3934 on raising secondary school students’ awareness of national sea and islands in the 2024–2030 period. He noted that as the country enters a new stage of development following the 14th National Party Congress, fostering knowledge and patriotism among the younger generation is a strategic task, contributing to the determination to safeguard the nation’s sacred sovereignty over sea and islands.

The provincial round took place in an enthusiastic and competitive atmosphere. One hundred contestants took part in multiple-choice questions testing their knowledge of sea and islands, including issues related to sovereignty and relevant international and Vietnamese laws. The students’ solid understanding impressed the judging panel and attending delegates.

After fierce competitions, the organizing panel presented awards to the most outstanding contestants. The first prize was awarded to Pham Khanh Duy, a 9th grader of Vo Nguyen Giap Secondary School, along with two second, three third and four consolation prizes.

Through this activity, students are encouraged to act as young ambassadors in promoting awareness of laws and policies on sea and islands, thus joining efforts to help maintain peace and security in the southwestern waters of the country.
