GDP holds get-together for agencies and units in Ho Chi Minh City
PANO - On February 1, in Ho Chi Minh City, the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP) held a meeting with its affiliated agencies and units in preparation for the Lunar New Year 2026.
Defense Minister General Phan Van Giang attended the event. GDP Chief General Nguyen Trong Nghia chaired the meeting.

Also present were GDP Deputy Chiefs Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Senior Lieutenant General Do Xuan Tung, and Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh; and former GDP Deputy Chief Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Huan; among others.

Speaking at the event, General Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the meeting took place amidst the joyful atmosphere following the success of the 14th National Party Congress, which opens a new era of development for the nation. To celebrate this success, the GDP has launched a vibrant emulation movement, determined to bring the Party’s resolutions to life from the very first month of the year.

Regarding tasks for 2026, General Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the GDP would focus on improving the quality of strategic advice on Party building within the military. He called for innovation in Party and political work to ensure practicality and effectiveness, strictly following the directives of General Secretary To Lam and the Central Military Commission. The goal is to build comprehensively strong units and a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern military to firmly protect the Fatherland in the new revolutionary period.

In preparation for the 2026 Lunar New Year, the GDP chief requested officers and soldiers to uphold the tradition of unity, proactiveness, and creativity, while ensuring strict discipline and building exemplary and typical units to successfully fulfill all assigned tasks.
On this occasion, the GDP presented awards to three collectives and 11 individuals for their contribution in 2025 and gifts to three GDP’s affiliated units.
