During the 2021-2025 period, coordination between the Vietnam Border Guard Party Committee and local border Party committees was strictly and effectively implemented. Border force promptly advised local authorities on handling situations, firmly safeguarding territorial sovereignty and national border security. The force also actively participated in consolidating the grassroots-level political system, promoting socio-economic development, and reducing poverty in border and island areas.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau commended the achievements of the Vietnam Border Guard. He expressed deep gratitude to the Party, the State, central agencies, and local authorities for their continuous support to the force.

The general emphasized that as the country enters a new era of development, safeguarding national border sovereignty early and from afar, while maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in border areas, is of strategic importance to socio-economic development and national defense and security consolidation.

The deputy defense minister urged the Vietnam Border Guard Party Committee and local authorities to strictly implement relevant directives at all levels, pay due attention to building a strong all-people border defense posture, and develop a regular, elite, and modern border guard force. He requested pro-active coordination in advising on border policies and laws, effectively handling border and territorial issues, and resolutely fighting crimes, such as drug trafficking, human trafficking, illegal entry and exit, and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing violations. Furthermore, he highlighted the need to enhance defense diplomacy and border guard diplomacy linked with people-to-people diplomacy to consolidate friendship with neighboring countries.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau also urged provincial and municipal Party committees to continue providing resources, supporting the military’s rear-echelon policies, and facilitating the Vietnam Border Guard in fulfilling its missions.

At the conference, the Vietnam Border Guard Party Committee signed the coordination regulation for the new period with the provincial and municipal Party committees. The regulation, comprising three chapters and six articles, clearly defines the responsibilities and coordination methods to maximize leadership efficiency in border guard operations.
