The congress was themed “Promoting fine traditions of Uncle Ho’s soldiers; building a contingent of military women with bravery, wisdom and proficiency in digital skills; building strong Women’s Union organizations, contributing to building of a healthy, strong, exemplary Military Party Organization, a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern military; firmly safeguarding socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.”

In his opening remarks, GDP Chief General Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the 8th edition held important significance, aiming to continue thoroughly grasping and implementing the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws on women affairs and women’s movement. The Congress demonstrated the political mettle, determination and aspiration for dedication of military women in the cause of military building, defense consolidation, firm Fatherland protection, contributing to national development.

On behalf of the Presidium, Senior Colonel Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Head of the Military Women Advisory Board, presented the political report affirming practical achievements in women affairs and women’s movement during the 2021-2025 period which had been implemented comprehensively and extensively, with many innovations and creative approaches.

In his speech, General Phan Van Giang highlighted great contribution of generations of military women to building the military, strengthening national defense, fighting for national independence and freedom, and safeguarding the Fatherland.

The defense chief asked the GDP to embrace and lead the entire military in effectively implementing the Party’s and State’s viewpoints, guidelines and policies on women affairs, and caring for and building Vietnamese women in the new period. The GDP was urged to pro-actively advice the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on appropriate and practical mechanisms and policies to create favorable conditions for military women to study, train, strive and grow.

He also requested agencies in charge of women affairs and Women’s Union organizations to effectively implement the “three innovations,” namely innovating methods of dissemination, education and mobilization of Women’s Union members; innovating the building and organization of movements and activity models; and innovating the work of building strong Women’s Union organizations.

On this occasion, Gen. Giang handed over a banner from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to military women, bearing words “Patriotic, united, creative, faithful, and capable.”

After two days of urgent and serious work, under the spirit of “Solidarity - Intelligence - Democracy - Development,” the 8th Congress successfully completed all contents and the agenda as set forth.

In his closing speech, GDP Deputy Chief Sr. Lt. Gen. Le Quang Minh emphasized that the success of the Congress was significant, marking a new stage of development in women affairs and military women’s movement. He asked agencies, units, Women’s Union organizations, their cadres and members across the military to pro-actively seize opportunities, overcome difficulties, stay united, strive to further improve the quality of women affairs and women’s movement, and continue to enhance military women’s standing and role in their units, families and society.
