Defense leader expresses gratitude to former Party, State, and military leaders

PANO - On July 16, General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Director of the General Department of Political Affairs (GDP), led a delegation of the CMC and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to offer incense in tribute to former Party, State, and military leaders, and to visit former leaders of the MND and the GDP on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - 2026).

Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh, former permanent member of the CMC and former Deputy Minister of National Defense.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, they expressed their profound gratitude to these predecessors for their tremendous contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party, the nation, and the military building.

General Nghia inquired after the late leaders’ family members, expressing his hope that they would continue to uphold their family traditions and contribute to promoting the power of the Party, the country's development, and the continued growth of the Vietnam People's Army.

The same day, General Nghia and the delegation visited and conveyed their best wishes to General Ngo Xuan Lich, former Deputy Secretary of the CMC, and former Minister of National Defense, as well as Sr. Lt. Gen. Pham Thanh Ngan, former GDP Chief.

After inquiring after the health and life of the former leaders, General Nghia briefed them on the military's outstanding achievements in the first half of 2026, and the key tasks that the CMC and the MND are directing the implementation.

General Nghia wished the former leaders good health and hoped for their continued valuable guidance, insightful recommendations, and steadfast support for building an increasingly strong Vietnam People's Army capable of firmly safeguarding the nation's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Generals Lich and Ngan expressed their appreciation for the care and attention shown by the CMC and MND and voiced their confidence that the Vietnam People's Army would continue to uphold its proud traditions and successfully accomplish its missions in the new situation.
