Army Corps 1's chain-of-command welcome Defense Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich

At the meeting, Major General Doan Thai Duc, the Corps’ Commander, briefed the delegation on the unit’s task performance over the past time.

Established on October 24, 1973, the Corps was the first mobile regular unit reserved for strategic operations of the Vietnam People’s Army. Over the past 45 years, the unit has received due care from the Party, State, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, as well as wholehearted support from Party committees, authorities and people of the localities  where it has stationed or carried out its assigned missions, contributing to its accomplishment of all assigned tasks.

In the first nine months of this year, the unit has embraced the Central Military Commission’s directives and resolutions and implemented eight major missions with positive outcomes. Besides, the whole corps promoted solidarity, and exerted all-out efforts to excellently fulfill all assigned missions.

Applauding the Corps’ feats of arms since its inception as well as its outstanding achievements in recent times, General Lich asked its Party Committee and chain-of-command to continue to concentrate on improving the quality of political education, promoting emulation movements in all working aspects, orienting troops’ thoughts, raising a high sense of responsibility  and resolving to overcome difficulties and complete assignments among troops, and encouraging troops to undertake and accomplish all assigned tasks.

General Lich requested the unit to be active in the fight against wrong viewpoints of hostile, reactionary forces, well protect internal security, improve the efficiency of mass mobilization and policy work, carry out effectively Party and political work, pay attention to combat readiness training, well conduct military exercises, and be ready to participate in natural disaster relief and rescue.

The unit was also requested to observe the military discipline, build regularity, fix shortcomings, and ensure absolute safety of personnel and property while improving mobile ability and combat strength.
