PANO - The Army Corps 1 Command kicked off a competition for regiment-level commanders and political commissars of its constituent units on June 13th in the presence of Lt. Gen. Pham Hong Huong, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Addressing the event, Major General Tran Duy Giang, the corps' commander, stressed that the competition aimed to evaluate officers' ability of applying theoretical stuffs to reality, especially in preparing for combat assignments and training missions.
The event also involves theoretical tests in the contestants’ political knowledge, logistics and technical work, among others.
Practical tests that contestants will participate in include building and reporting combat plans and determination, K54 pistol shooting, and line-up regulations, to name but a few.
