Defense minister reviews military organization building plan
PANO – Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang had a working session with the General Staff on March 24 to review the implementation of the defense ministry’s project on organizing the Vietnam People’s Army in the 2021-2030 period and the following years.
The session was attended by Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Director of the General Department of Political Affairs Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, and other officials.

During the meeting, General Phan Van Giang commended the General Staff for successfully directing the implementation of the Defense Ministry’s plan on organizing the Vietnam People's Army in the 2021-2030 period as scheduled. He acknowledged that several units have already implemented the plan and closely followed the policy of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.
Looking ahead, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army should continue to focus on directing the whole-military to implement the Defense Ministry’s plan, considering it a significant task in 2023 and the following years, contributing to meeting the national protection task requirements in the current context. He also noted that the adjustment of organization, payroll, refinement, and compactness of the apparatus must be associated with planning, training, fostering, rotation, building high-quality human resources, and ensuring synchronicity and modernization of weapons and equipment.
Moreover, the defense minister stressed that the General Staff and the General Department of Political Affairs should direct relevant agencies and units to focus on doing well the ideological, organizational, and political work; building healthy, typical, and strong Party organizations and comprehensively strong units to complete all assigned tasks.
