Last month, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) directed the whole military to strictly observe combat readiness regulations, firmly defend the skies, seas and borders of the nation, solve defense-military related situations in a timely manner, and ensure security at the second session of the 15th National Assembly and the fourth session of the 13th Party Central Committee.
Also in this month, the MND directed military units to adjust their work plans and training programs in accordance with the situation of COVID-19, conduct drills as planned, and deploy personnel and vehicles for search and rescue and disaster relief missions in the Central and Central Highlands.
Under the leadership of the MND, defense agencies and military units have improved political education quality, actively fought hostile forces’ wrongful viewpoints, and protected the Party’s ideological foundation as well as internal political affairs.
The military has also effectively carried out other logistical, financial, and economic services.
Clarifying good implementation of military-defense tasks in October, General Giang also pointed out what could impact the task performance in the coming time and oriented key military-defense tasks for November.
He stressed that the MND continues to lead the whole military to closely follow situational developments, make accurate forecast of situations, and give recommendations to deal with emerging situations in a timely manner.
Military units were asked to effectively carry out COVID-19 prevention and control measures in the new normal state, arrange forces and vehicles to support localities to control the pandemic, bring into play field hospitals for infectious diseases and mobile medical teams and ensure social welfares for localities. Units should also keep personnel and vehicles ready to undertake search and rescue missions on request.
According to General Giang, in November, units in the military will evaluate quality of Party cells and party members and reward outstanding individuals and collectives; therefore, he urged them to award forces participating in COVID-19 prevention and control.
The defense minister asked units to boost international integration and defense diplomacy, make good preparation for deploying military engineers to a United Nations peacekeeping mission, enhance vaccine diplomacy through defense channels and international cooperation in COVID-19 prevention and control, military medicine, war legacy relief, dioxin treatment and demining.
