The activity was in response to the “Tree planting festival in gratitude to Uncle Ho” movement and continuing the “Greening Truong Sa” program.

Following the launch, troops and islanders planted and cared for more than 9,000 trees, including over 1,500 new ones. Existing trees were tended, pruned, and maintained within island compounds.

The “Greening Truong Sa” program not only creates a green, clean, and beautiful landscape but also plays an important role in improving the microclimate, preventing coastal erosion caused by tides and waves, reducing the impact of storms, and enhancing the quality of life for troops and residents. Many models such as youth gardens, concentrated vegetable gardens, windbreak trellises, and tree lines along patrol routes have proven effective, gradually covering vacant land, providing shade, and creating shared community spaces for troops and islanders.

Attentively, units have focused on information dissemination and education to raise awareness among troops of the long-term significance of tree planting and protection. Emulation movements, such as “Each person plants one tree” and “Green island – Strong unit” have been widely launched, associated with building comprehensively strong, typical and exemplary units. Each tree planted is not only a symbol of life but also reflects the will, faith, and responsibility of naval soldiers in safeguarding the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.
