At the meeting, the mission was briefed on the region’s task performance last year.
Accordingly, MR2’s Party Committee and chain-of-command effectively directed their affiliates to carry out operations, firmly protect border and territorial sovereignty, ensure local political security, and guarantee public order and safety.
They also led their affiliates to closely follow local situational developments, make accurate forecasts of arising situations, give recommendations to local party committees and authorities to handle any arising problems, and strictly observe combat readiness regulations.
Furthermore, the region’s affiliates actively joined disaster relief activities, contributed to building a strong whole people’s defense disposition and firm defensive areas, and improved the quality of defensive area exercises. They also held training courses to provide defense knowledge for people of different levels, consolidate the people’s heart disposition, and maintain local political stability, thus promoting local socio-economic development.
Attentively, the region controlled the COVID-19 epidemic. So far, no service members in the region have tested positive for the virus. In the region, 11 COVID-19 patients in Vinh Phuc province have been discharged from hospitals. Military units in the region are quarantining more than 3,000 COVID-19 patients suspected of having the virus.
In his speech, General Cuong highly valued the region’s troops’ achievements. He requested the region to prepare for the upcoming congress of the region’s Party Committee and other party congresses at lower levels.
The region was urged to focus on military training and exercises and maintenance of combat readiness, force regularity-building, State law and military discipline observance, and personnel organization.
It was also requested to improve the quality of training for recruits, self-defense and militia and reserve forces, while promoting defense relations with China and Laos, making contributions to building a borderline of peace, stability, cooperation and development
